Guide for use:

The total claim size is the total amount paid to the patient or some other party claiming for harm or other loss allegedly resulting from health care in settlement of the matter, including any interim payments and claimant legal costs, plus defence investigative and legal costs. The amount should not include internal claim management costs. Total claim size should reflect costs paid (or agreed to be paid) by the health authority only; any third party contributions (for example payments from medical indemnity insurers) should be excluded.
