During development of the Medical Indemnity National Collection it was decided that an item for recording broad categories of loss was needed. Where the medical indemnity claim relates to loss suffered by an other party or parties, whether solely or in combination with loss suffered by the patient, it is relevant to record the nature of this loss separately to the loss suffered by the patient.
