Description

Specific types of services to be classified into areas of service according to the Australian Dental Association (ADA) Schedule of Dental Services. Visits classified as emergency if for relief of pain, and as general if for problems not involving relief of pain or for a check-up.

Dentate persons classified on the basis of the presence of one or more natural teeth.

Numerator to be divided into people who visited a dentist for emergency or general treatment.

Service estimates are to be restricted to dentate persons.

Rates directly age-standardised.

Analysis by remoteness and SEIFA Index of Relative Socioeconomic Disadvantage (IRSD) is based on usual residence of person.

Presented per 1,000 population.

95% confidence intervals and relative standard errors calculated for rates.
