Definition
The presence or absence of residual tumour after treatment.
Residual tumour is based on the UICC TNM cancer staging system descriptor represented by the symbol R. It refers to cancer cells remaining at the primary tumour site after attempts to remove the cancer have been made. Treatment may involve a cancer-directed surgical procedure, radiotherapy or treatment with a systemic therapy agent.References
