Computation Rule
Description

The workforce for each profession is defined as those employed in the profession. This excludes those who are registered in the profession but are retired, working outside the profession, on extended leave or working outside Australia

Full time equivalent (FTE) = Total hours worked by workforce ÷ Standard working week for selected professions.

The standard working week for medical practitioners is 40 hours and the standard for nurses and midwives is 38 hours.
