Definition

A contact worker is an early childhood education and care worker who is employed, and paid, by an early childhood education and care service provider as a principal/director/coordinator/teacher-in-charge, group leader/teacher, assistant/aide or other contact worker to plan and deliver or support the delivery of an early childhood education program (excludes non-contact workers).

Guide for use:

A contact worker may be employed on a contract, part-time or full-time basis.

Delivery (of an early childhood education program) refers to face-to-face delivery of an early childhood education program or distance early childhood education program for at least one hour per week during the reference period by an early childhood education and care contact worker. Includes contact workers who are usually present to plan and deliver or support the delivery of an early childhood education program, but may have been absent during the reference period due to illness or extended holiday leave and are expected to return.
