Definition

The Community mental health care national minimum data set (CMHC NMDS) includes data about service contacts provided by specialised mental health services for patients/clients, other than those admitted to psychiatric hospitals or designated psychiatric units in acute care hospitals, and those resident in 24 hour staffed specialised residential mental health services.

This NMDS was updated on 10 September 2013 to replace the ICD-10-AM 7th edition principal diagnosis data element with its ICD-10-AM 8th edition equivalent, as agreed to by the Mental Health Information Strategy Standing Committee.
