Workgroup roles

A viewer can be assigned to a workgroup to monitor the items within managed within it, but cannot edit any items.

Submitters are based on the 11179 role of the same name, and can submit new items for registration within the registry within the workgroups of which they are a member. They are also able to edit unlocked items managed within a workgroup.
Steward
Stewards are based on the 11179 role of the same name, and are in charge of the ongoing maintenance of items as they are registered. Stewards are trusted users who have additional privileges to edit locked items within their workgroup.
Workgroup Manager
Managers are in charge of the operation and membership of a workgroup. They can add users to a workgroup and assign them roles. Managers are trusted users who have additional privileges to edit locked items within their workgroup. Workgroup managers can also close or remove discussions within a workgroup.

Registration Authority roles

Registrar

Registrars are users who are responsible for recording the endorsement of metadata on behalf of the Registration Authority.

Registrars can endorse any metadata they have permission to see, however it is likely they will only endorse metadata after it has been submitted for review by another user.

Registration Authority Manager
Managers are in charge of the operation and membership of a registration authority, they can assign registrars within their registration authority Unless a manager is granted additional roles, such as steward or submitter roles, they do not have the rights to edit items.

Stewardship Organisation roles

Viewers

Viewers of a stewardship organisation can view and collaborate on metadata in the organisation but are restricted to view-only roles.

Member
Members of Stewardship Organisation can view metadata published to the Stewardship Organisation, but have no special permissions.
Steward

Stewards are users who are responsible for maintaining metadata within the Stewardship Organisation.

They are trusted users with the permission to update all metadata within this Stewardship Organisation.

For example, if an endorsed standard classification has had minor changes, a Steward would be responsible for making updates to the item so it does not need to go through the endorsement process again.

Administrator

Stewardship Organisation Administrators are users responsible for maintenance of the Stewardship Organisation. Administrators are highly trusted users who have control of all content within a Stewardship Organisation.

They can give and revoke membership to existing users, create workgroups and registration authorities in the organisation, update permissions and control access.

There should always be at least 1 administrator of a Stewardship Organisation.

External Collaborator

Collaborators can be given roles to maintain metadata in a stewardship organisation but can only view metadata in their workgroups. They cannot view metadata that is published only for organisation members.

Registry roles

Registry administrator (superuser)
Registry administrators are responsible for the management of the entire registry and are the only users able to add or remove users to the registry. Registry administrators are also able to add certain "unmanaged" items.
